Green Chile Time!

It is green chile time in Albuquerque again!!!!
This is our third year of getting green chiles, having them roasted, and peeling and dicing them to freeze and use all year. Normally we get a bushel of them but this year we got two bushels and will probably get one more before the harvest is over becaus a bushel usually only lasts us about 2-3 months.
We love them and especially love the smell of when they are roasted!

Back from Tucson - 09/19/10 Gila National Forest

On our way back from Tucson, we took the Southern route and drove through Gila National Forest. The roads were great and there was a look good scenery so I think that will be a stop sometime soon on the motorcycle. I see some camping in our future!

IA vs AZ - 09/18/10

The game was really exciting except for the first half where we were down 27-7.
In the second half we pulled it together and tied the game 27-27 in the fourth after the refs reviewed a play and called it a touchdown for Iowa, and then our defense intercepted the ball and ran it in for a touchdown. Unfortunately, Arizona scored again and we couldn't answer back so we lost 34-27.
I wish it could have been a different outcome but I still enjoyed my first away game.

Iowa Tailgate - 09/18/10

Before heading to the game, we decided to tailgate at a local bar since it was 105 degrees outside. It was a lot of fun but nothing like tailgating in Iowa City.

All of the Hawk fans

On Friday night a lot of the Hawkeye fans who were in Tucson went to a local bar called the Hut and enjoyed each others company and our love for the Hawks. It was a great time!

We headed back on the road again on Friday and went through Salt River Canyon in AZ. It was really pretty and a nice ride.

On our way to Tucson - 09/16/10

We decided to head half way to Tucson on Thursday and had the opportunity to go through El Malpais National Park. Here are some pictures of the sunset we enjoyed.

Burning of Zozobra

Every year in Santa Fe since 1924 there has been a tradition known as the burning of Zozobra, aka Old Man Gloom. Zozobra is burned to dispell the previous year's sorrows and worries. Here is a website with more information about the event. We thought about attending this year but it gets a little crazy with traffic....maybe some other year.

Family BBQ - 09/05/10

Here are a couple pictures of the Roos Kids after the Family BBQ on Sunday. Since I was sick from Sunday afternoon until yesterday, they saved a spot for me in the picture and I may get photo shopped in at some point.

Hawkeye Tailgate and Game - 09/04/10

We had a great time tailgating on Saturday for the Iowa game against Eastern Illinois. We had an even better time watching the Hawks destroy them 37-7. GO HAWKS!
